7 Clay alternatives for research and enrichment

Research scorecard illustration showing reviewed records and evidence checks.

Compare Clay alternatives for enrichment, AI research, prospecting and workflow automation, with pricing checks and a practical migration test.

Clay alternatives fall into several different categories. FullEnrich focuses on contact enrichment; Apollo combines prospecting data and engagement; Persana combines enrichment and AI research; Gumloop supports broader automation. The useful replacement depends on which part of Clay you actually use.

If your team already has productive Clay workflows, a cheaper starting subscription is not sufficient reason to migrate. First identify the expensive or unreliable step, then test a replacement against that step. This guide compares published capabilities, not results from a head-to-head product benchmark. Rhycon provides an AI-powered outbound workflow and has a commercial interest in this category.

Persana: evaluate the whole research workflow

Persana is a relevant shortlist candidate when you want enrichment and AI research in one workspace. Its published Starter price is $85 on monthly billing, or $68 per month billed annually. The annual allowance is 24,000 credits. Unlimited users are listed, but integrations and automation capabilities vary by plan. Native Salesforce and HubSpot integrations appear on Pro, so a Starter quote is not the price of every possible deployment. Persana pricing.

Run the same research question against a sample of named accounts. Ask reviewers to check the source behind each useful answer. An answer that sounds plausible but cannot be checked should not become an outreach claim. Also count repeated runs and failed research when estimating consumption.

FullEnrich: evaluate the enrichment step separately

FullEnrich is worth evaluating if the job is finding email addresses or telephone numbers for people you have already selected. Its pricing distinguishes result types and charges for data found. That is a narrower job than a complete research, scoring and activation workspace. FullEnrich pricing.

Measure usable results after deduplication and review, not just returned fields. A found contact can still be the wrong person or outside your target segment. Keep your existing sequencer and CRM in the cost model if the enrichment service does not replace them.

Apollo: data and engagement in one evaluation

Apollo is a candidate when reps need to search for prospects and work them through sequences. Its Basic plan lists $49 per user per month on annual billing. This is a different charging structure from Clay’s unlimited-seat workspace. Compare the required plan and credit allowance, rather than multiplying entry prices and declaring a universal winner. Apollo pricing.

For a small team, an integrated workflow may reduce handoffs. For a specialised account list, test actual coverage first. Neither a large database nor a multi-provider waterfall proves that your particular contacts will be correct. Our Apollo vs Clay comparison includes a workload worksheet.

Hunter: an email-focused workflow

Hunter offers Discover, email finding and verification, and Sequences. It is therefore more than an email lookup box. The all-in-one Starter plan lists $34 per month with annual billing and 24,000 annual credits; account limits still apply. Hunter’s API-only data offering is a separate purchase and should not be confused with the all-in-one product. Hunter pricing.

Shortlist it when email is the required channel and the team can define the target accounts and message. Test the complete search-to-sequence workflow before assuming a lower price means a complete Clay replacement.

Gumloop and Datablist: when the table is only part of the job

Gumloop lists Pro from $37 per month, 20,000 included monthly credits and unlimited seats. Its pricing also lists an orchestration fee. External model and service costs belong in the same budget. It is a broader automation platform, so compare the actual integrations and error handling you need. Gumloop pricing.

Datablist is another candidate for teams working from lists, with deduplication, enrichment and automation features. Check which plan supports your workflow and how AI usage is charged. Do not assume every spreadsheet operation or integration is available on the free tier. Datablist pricing.

A migration test that produces a decision

  1. Select a representative sample across your target countries, company sizes and roles.

  2. Define the fields and evidence that make a record usable before running either tool.

  3. Record results, duplicates, incorrect roles, missing sources, credits and operator minutes.

  4. Test CRM updates, suppressions and failure recovery as well as successful enrichment.

  5. Compare total cost per accepted record and the time required to maintain the workflow.

Export source records, identifiers and suppression information before changing systems. Keep the old workflow available until a small complete run has passed review. Our Clay pricing guide explains the cost calculation.

Where Rhycon fits

Changing software will not create the person who owns research, campaign decisions and replies. Rhycon is relevant when you want to connect and automate those steps. It is not a like-for-like enrichment subscription. Book a conversation about your outbound workflow and bring one target segment, your current tools and the step that is slowing the team down.

Common questions

Which Clay alternative is cheapest?

The cheapest starting plan and the cheapest completed workflow can be different products. Include the required features, consumption, other subscriptions and operator time. Test your workload before committing annually.

Does a waterfall guarantee more accurate data?

No. Multiple sources can improve coverage on some lists, but returned information still needs validation. Compare against your own acceptance criteria rather than a vendor-wide accuracy claim.
